The project is located on the top floor of a creative park building in Suzhou, the original structure of the building is L-shaped, only 25 square metres, with a relatively long and narrow passageway. The client wanted the space to be able to accommodate the daily office and leisure activities of three people, with a little more space for leisure activities, and they also have a dog.
The designers used the row directly opposite the entrance as an office area, and part of the space above was designed as a cantilevered leisure compartment, which can be accessed via a vertical staircase, so that you can take a rest on it after work.
There were three windows in the original building, which provided sufficient light, but the windows were no longer usable due to the ageing of the building. The designer re-designed the windows, using glass in the upper part of each window for lighting, and installing wooden shades in the lower part, which can be pushed and pulled freely to avoid direct sunlight from hurting the eyes and affecting the office experience. The shades can be pushed and pulled open for ventilation, while the new windows become another language of the façade, breaking the monotonous façade dominated by white walls.
The narrow aisle is designed as a storage cabinet and operable space to meet sufficient storage. The use of lamps cleverly connects the space into one and at the same time provides lighting.
